The mission of International Support for Georgian Youth (ISGY) is to break the cycle of generational poverty in the Imereti region in the Country of Georgia.

By focusing on education, we can help youth in Georgia remain healthy, stay in school, learn job skills in high school, and then hopefully attend either vocational school or university.  This way, students can obtain the knowledge and the skill sets to support their families.   Self-sustaining families are the best way to address generational poverty.

We’ve been involved in Georgia since 1999.  What began as basic renovation work at one school in the Imereti region has blossomed into a 12-month sustainable program at three schools.  Through our Sponsor A Child program, we provide nutritious food, medicines, and warm clothing to over 300 children each year.

As the basic needs of the children are now being met through the Sponsor A Child program, we are now broadening our efforts to include  scholarships and vocational training programs to provide skills, higher education, and most importantly, hope for a brighter future.

In the fall of 2016 we began to support the Kutaisi Youth House, an after school program for at-risk high school students in Kutaisi.  The program provides warm meals and classes for over 80 students, including math, English, computers, sewing, accounting and hairstyling.

We are thankful that we have been able to partner with Peachtree Road United Methodist Church, McLain Association for Children (MAC), the Peace Corps, U.S. Department of State, Counterpart, United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR), Georgia to Georgia (GA2GE), International Relief and Development (IRD), Hellenic Society of Georgia,  and our State of Georgia National Guard.
